Google India’s gross FY25 ad revenue rises 11.3% to Rs 34,742 crore

Google India saw a 11.3 percent increase in its gross advertising revenue to Rs 34,742 crore for the financial year ended March 2025 (FY25), from Rs 31,221 crore in the past year.

The net advertising revenue however dipped by 2 percent to Rs 2,694.4 crore for FY25, from Rs 2,743.4 crore in FY24, as per the tech giant’s latest filing with the Registrar of Companies, shared by business intelligence platform Tofler.

This was due to higher payouts to Google Asia Pacific for the purchase of advertisement space which increased by 12.6 percent to Rs 32,047.6 crore for FY25 from Rs 28,477.8 crore in FY24.

The gross sales from enterprise products rose by 32.4 percent to Rs 2,054.9 crore for the year, from Rs 1,551.9 crore in FY24. The firm paid Rs 1,868.4 crore to Google Asia Pacific for the purchase of services related to enterprise products, up 33.8 percent year-on-year (YoY). Net sales were at Rs 186.5 crore, up 20 percent from Rs 155.4 crore.

Google India is a third-party reseller of advertising space for the Google Ads programme and other Google advertising products and services in India to advertisers seeking to market their products and services to consumers and business users online.

The firm also generates revenue as reseller of its cloud computing, productivity and collaboration tools including Gmail and Google Docs, while providing IT-enabled services (ITES) to its group companies.

The tech giant generated Rs 2,459.2 crore from providing ITES services during the financial year, up from Rs 2,389.6 crore in the previous year. Profit was at Rs 330 crore for the period, from Rs 319.4 crore in the previous year.

Google India’s revenue from operations saw a rare 3 percent decline to Rs 5,340.1 crore, down from Rs 5,518.1 crore the previous year. This dip was driven by lower sales from advertising space and enterprise products, partially offset by an increase in other income.

Net sales from advertising space and enterprise products declined by 3 percent to Rs 2,880.9 crore in FY25 from Rs 3,128.5 crore in FY24. Profit from the segment was also lower at Rs 920 crore in FY25 from Rs 1,049 crore in FY24.

Total revenues increased by 3 percent YoY to Rs 6,115.9 crore for FY25, from Rs 5,921.1 crore in FY24. Net profit was nearly flat at Rs 1,436.90 crore for FY25, from Rs 1,424.9 crore in FY24.

In terms of expenses, Google India saw its employee benefits expense increase by 7.9 percent to Rs 2,145.9 crore in FY25 from Rs 1,989.2 crore in FY24. This includes a 13.4 percent increase in salaries and wages to Rs 1,473.9 crore for the year and a 5.5 percent decline in share-based payment expenses to Rs 518.9 crore.

Total expenses however reduced by 1.2 percent to Rs 4,136.3 crore during the year, from Rs 4,184.4 crore in FY24.With over a billion users, India is Google’s largest market in terms of user base for its products. It is also a critical region for the future growth of the search giant, especially in its artificial intelligence efforts.The tech giant employs over 10,000 employees in the country, representing one of the largest employee bases for the search giant outside the United States.
